The interlocking tiles clicked together in about five minutes and the checkered pattern makes my corner look way more intentional than a bare floor. Half an inch of EVA foam is plenty for deadlifts and I've already dropped a few weights without feeling any impact through to the floor.

I was skeptical about foam tiles holding up under my dumbbells, but the 1/2-inch thickness really does absorb the drop without denting. The checkered pattern hides chalk dust way better than my old solid black mat did. Twelve tiles covered my whole corner perfectly.
